Still can’t get my head around the fact that I’m going away on Wednesday! It’s term time! As I’m doing supply this term, we decided we would make the most of the flexibility and so we are off for 10 days - going for some sunshine (hopefully!). Start at a new school on 5th Jan!

Gatwick is busy (start of some half terms) but we still managed to get in a lounge (the family friendly one) which does pizza and fish finger sandwiches! Strangely it is quieter than the other lounges… And we’re going to work on a triathlon in Dubrovnik so not all holiday!

Had a tough day yesterday at hospital with my dad, but finally managed to pick up my tapestries that have been made into a cushion and a picture. Actually quite proud of them!

Jackson the #therapydog came to visit my dad in the hospital today. His face lit up when he saw it was a dog 💕.

Just seen 3 of my ex students in town - they were all so pleased that they’d got good scores in maths with me (and their hard work of course!) And they asked why I was using a crutch…

So my 87yr old father fell over today - luckily not as hurt as he could be, and this evening I’ve managed to get him up the stairs into the shower - he uses a walker for walking. I am now knackered and sitting on the sofa with my leg in an ice brace!

So despite having the most disruptive ‘naughty’ yr 11 class in the year, and being told that I can’t teach, 30/31 got grade 4 and above in maths, and the other got a 3. One student got a 4 in statistics (with me) and a 2 in Maths (with HOD!) Says it all really! It was getting a bit toxic for me.

So 13 days post op. Still doing my exercises. Can do straight leg lifts and almost 90° bend. Hopefully physio will be happy tomorrow although 4-5 hr journey home today is not good for it. Hope to be back in the pool very soon.

Been down here since Monday but this is the closest I’ve got to the beach 😢 #branksomebeach Walking on the beach with crutches is probably not the easiest…going to try today though. Still a bit of bruising going on as well.

Up showered and dressed. Day 2 post op. Going to Nando’s for son no 1’s birthday (he’s 27!)

Another great service by the NHS #SWLEOC. All good. Pain meds are in hand. #patellofemoralreplacement Someone is happy to see me home!

Now just have to wait for BP to come back up - almost fainted with physio on the stairs as it was 81/40, still not great! Then I can go home.

Not a great night’s sleep in hospital but at least I had access to strong meds. Up and dressed now and hopefully going home soon.

I’ve got a visitor this morning

Told my yr 12s that I’m leaving in #mathstoday - they were so lovely. One of them had me in tears, even wanting a photo with me - I will miss the students.

This was my classroom at 2.45pm - luckily I was not teaching! Other classrooms are warmer! #britishsummer

Mechanics help! I want to do the thing where you lie down on a plank supported by two bathroom scales and calculate your centre of mass. Any tips of what scales to buy (hopefully cheap) and where to source a plank? Do I need to cosy up to DT...?

Y12 have found proof by contradiction really hard! We did some practice at just writing down the opposite statement first (pink in first 2 pics), and then I’ve been scaffolding the proofs fairly heavily. Does anyone have a good bank of examples for more practice? #ALevelMaths #MathsToday
