Not long now until the least needed exam in England - the GCSE Maths resit at Higher tier, required by only ~1000 students. Good thing we’ve got four exam boards on the case, producing 11 different exam papers for it!

The top six choices of Yr 13 girls and boys at A level makes up just over half of all A levels taken. Boys outperform girls at the top grades on their (collectively) chosen top six. Would that gap be lessened if more girls chose Mathematics (or if more boys chose Psychology)?

GCSE Maths distributions by board and age (16 and 17+). AQA’s entry has a larger proprtion of resits than Pearson. OCR and Eduqas don’t report age data so are lumped together, but Eduqas’ grade distribution suggests most of their entry is 17+. OCR tend to have a larger F entry.

No shortage of the top grades for IGCSE™ Mathematics (though PearsonEdexcel have now decided not to publish entry numbers, which is a bit coy of them)

GCSE Maths entries - up ~5% overall on 2024 but down a few thousand among 16-year olds, suggesting more resits than previously. Edexcel are holding steady with a giant 63% of the entry, but AQA have lost 9%. Entry for Eduqas’s two-paper GCSE has doubled! A popular resit option?
