Whenever a reader comments that they read the episode twice (once for the story and once for the art) I want to give them a kiss on the forehead. They are a cornerstone to maintaining my sanity after spending weeks making an episode that takes minutes to read.

Comics in general is an excellent media for hiding little details in the art or the dialog. In a movie or animation you might miss things because of timing, but a panel you can analyze as long as you like. Even a shift in characters demenour or the way a speech bubble is drawn could be a clue!

Just write and draw what you love, regardless of what's popular. Don't try to catch or ride trends. It takes too damn long to make comics, and by the time you've finished the 10th page, everything's given way to the newest trend.

making pinup drawings is all good and well, but it won’t make you any better at comics. only making comics will make you better at making comics.

Have hobbies. Hobbies of all kinds. Lean into other interests and things you love because they will influence and help you as a comic creator in very surprising ways. Watching films, reconnecting with nature, doing OTHER art related things. Taking a step back from comics helped me get closer to it.

Destroying your health to be able to meet deadlines is not worth it. Ask for more time. Take breaks or your body will eventually force you to when you crash!
