Thinking about Starmer’s digital ID, a solution to a non existent problem, if we MUST have ID cards, they can do worse than bolt it on to the already well working Drivers Licence and Passport IT system which worked seamlessly from my phone last year. Can’t get the UK Gov ID Check / Gov One apps on my modern iPhone work properly because the app isnt fully functional & the IT is a mess, so I really don’t see how a mandatory ID app is going to work, what problem it solves & how millions without phones capable are included. A couple days into the new Apple iOS 26 “Glass” and it’s feeling gimmicky already. The ‘clear’ & tinted options look interesting but unless you’re deeply familiar with locations & appearance of apps, it takes longer to find what you want to open and often reading the icon labels. Colour matters!

Have just installed the new iOS on my iPhone. Better not regret it! Bit different… 📱 Having seen the new iPhone 17 Pro, I’m glad I’ve no money to upgrade because I wouldn’t have got that fugly thing with the huge camera bump on the back in any case!
