As a incredibly and proudly lapsed Catholic JD Vance's "journey" is comically bizarre. Especially in the context of American Evangelical Christianity, incredibly strange he went full Catholic.

A truly fantastic scene, excellent pacing and tension. I genuinely dont get why people continue to hate this film so much. IMO its the best of the prequels and a generally awesome movie.

Like I don't think in all of the new live action Trek there is a speech or moment that genuinely approaches Picard ripping Crusher about his duty to the truth. What great things for a young me to have watched. Prodigy might have moments, but I don't recall.

I didn't love this episode as a kid, but when I rewatched it last year I was blown away by its gravitas. And it really casts a deep shadow over the lack of seriousness in recent iterations of Trek. Also got really re-frustrated they didn't make Tom Paris actually be Locarno ffs

But she's hot

I think that film nailed a few key aspects of TOS well, but goodness if I heard "the fleet is in the Laurentian system" one more time I would have torched the screen lol

As illustrated in the second Star Trek pilot, ESP is taken deadly seriously. IMO its the only thing that really dates the episode, which is among my favourites.

I am a big Trek fan and have mixed feelings about recent Trek (have yet to watch Academy, but looking forward to it) this nails everything about the recent wave; it all devolves into 'teenagers in space'. DISCO from S2 onwards, and brutally SNW S3. Just nothing like the gravitas of TNG era.
