I often wake up very early on the weekends and drive a couple of hours to fish. This morning I did just that, but when I got to the river, the water was too low to launch safely. So I had to turn around and come home. Nice sunrise though...

My dad used to “collect” new pennies every year - he’d excitedly show me the new ones as he found them. He’s been gone 3 years now, but today I found a shiny 2023 and 2024 in my console. Right on top of other change. Brand new. Thanks for checking in, and saying hi, dad.

Good fishing with my buddy Dave. I could do no wrong today and caught over 20 fish. Days like that don't come around that often.

A good day at the shore. And yes, I released the bass back into the ocean. Stripers are too important to only be caught once.

My brother is selling his shore house. While I help him do it, I am trying to take it all in, because I may never have a reason to be here again.

I had to do a favor for my brother which brought me to the beach for a couple of hours. I had the place to myself on a cold, windy day. The fish didn't cooperate either.

Caught my first striper of the year today - 35 miles away from any ocean or saltwater.

Again, please don't rush to judge those who appear to be carrying on as usual right now. I don't weed my yard bc I am unaware- I weed it to deal with my anxiety from knowing exactly what is going on. We all need to tune out from time to time to stay sane. I do not use the word sane lightly.

And the cellar slaughter continues... Ch. Montelena is one of the great American cabernets. I've been blessed to have drunk or owned every vintage since they started in 1976. This 1996 is absolutely spectacular 29 years in. Might even have 5-10 yrs left.

A good a night as any to pull a singleton from the cellar. This 32 yo second growth Bordeaux is showing really well. You never know how it's gonna go when you only own one bottle (singleton). This one is great.
