I think the government has gone about this in the wrong way. No case to legislate so quickly. (if the govt thinks there is potentially a case for change). Much better to set up a review (Royal Commission even), debate the options with the public and then construct a package

On Sky News, Paul Johnson, Director at the Institute for Fiscal Studies, says a lot of the numbers in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement are "sort of made up". (He’s just being nice with ‘sort of’.) I don’t think I’ve ever seen this kind of thing fall apart so quickly.
