For the record, I think that it’s fine that Jeffries says this before the meeting with Trump but think that there must be a messaging plan for what the Republicans are going to do during this negotiation. I don’t think that that exists or that Jeffries and Schumer are the right messengers.

I think that it’s fine to meet with Trump so long as there is an understanding that Republicans have no interest in negotiating with Democrats. I listened to Klein’s podcast with Coates. I think that the issue is Klein’s inability to reckon with Americans resistance to multiracial democracy. I think he’s having a difficult time understanding how certain groups were treated and how it explains so much about why we are where we are.

The media really should be examining the backlash to the first black president and the rejection of multiracial democracy by white voters. That is the real story of why we are where we are as a country. Democratic messaging can’t fix that.
