I am not so sure that an “anti-corruption” platform is going to trump white voters rejection of changing demographics in the country. There’s also the issue of white voters refusing to recognize the legitimacy of minorities elected to office.

What he means by “freedom” is social dominance over minority groups. Real democracy erodes their ability to make nonwhites into second class citizens. This has long been the argument of the south regionally and is now the explicit argument of the Republican Party at the national level.

The Republican Party doesn’t believe that freedom and democracy are compatible either.

Republicans like Vance who’ve trafficked in anti-blackness and anti-semitism haven’t been shivved by Trump’s endorsement of Carlson & Fuentes. Vance has proven he’s willing to sell out his own family to make favor with white nationalists. At some point we have to admit that this is who they are.

Trump is a white nationalist Republican. He is the leader of that party. The “MAGA coalition” and white nationalist constituency are one and the same.

Don’t waste your time fact-checking these numbers, don’t engage Vance's vile propaganda as if he was advancing an argument in good faith. Call out the underlying political project: A violent, authoritarian blood-and-soil nationalism that defines “America” as a white Christian homeland.

That is why Reconstruction is such a key historical reference. America’s first attempt at biracial democracy was quickly drowned in ostensibly “race-neutral” laws and escalating white reactionary violence. It took a century to get the country back to that level of democracy.

This is key — and something so many don’t want to admit. Many on the right are refusing to accept the legitimacy of wins by Democrats because of the diversity of the Democratic Party. The republic won’t survive under these circumstances.

It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not. If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

We tried to show them after the last surrender. There's no sense in trying to convince them anymore. Primaries are the only path to a fighting opposition party now.

Senate Democrats are incapable of fighting the battle against authoritarian Republicans. Democrats who caved and plan to run again must be primaried. There’s simply no excuse for caving at this juncture for little to nothing in return. Pathetic.
