We have some sweet insulated dog houses coming this week for some of the poodles that like to keep a tighter shave, we also bit the bullet and ordered a ton of kibble to try and stay a little ahead of the rising Epstein tax. Swiper is a little scared today, help him be brave by giving him some Bluesky encouragement. We have a number of other surgeries this summer, fixed dogs do make better sleddogs and obviously help with eliminating unplanned pregnancies which is a huge detriment to the dogs and mushers.

With our limited gene pool we have been searching for an outcross for Ham, his OnlyHam’s content has been slow. We tried a few prospects but they lacked speed or flair or some other trait the ORK sled poodle line requires. We did find Biscuit, she is on the right here. Is the🌎ready for more Hamlets?

Our baby sled poodles have a lot to say to those who call them “Alaskan Huskies”. Who came up with that term anyway? Would dogs that originated in other states be called Minnesotan, Wisconsinite, Michigander, Wyomingite..? Is Wisconsinite Sled Poodles proper terminology, or should we drop the ite?

Quick turnaround this week and right back to the races. Was a bit of a stressful week, but we are on the road and Hammy’s issue seems under control after a couple vet visits. Hiawatha Heritage here we come 🐩

Sounds like Erin and team got second place with a really great time, she snacked and stopped several times to baby them through a distance they haven’t trained up to. Hopefully the couple ringers that stayed home will help team in remaining races. #minnesotastrong

We aren’t minimizing the atrocity in MN by posting about sleddogs or continuing with a race in that state today, we have deep MN roots and what’s happening is completely appalling and unacceptable. Flashback to 2019 when I first met the legendary Martha Schouweiler as I delivered a lamb I picked up from @lintstorm.bsky.social to @otterrunkennel.bsky.social at Beargrease And oh yeah Chad hadn’t told Martha I was bringing it so she had some strange man show up to pawn off a lamb for her dogs

Flash is off to Beargrease. We debated doing it as not a feature race for us anymore and windchills have been down to 60 below. But race day temps look decent and off they went. All 🐩’s were in the trailer last night, and a few lucky “race dogs” get to hang out inside all weekend.

Then suddenly the stars may have aligned or Clash put the hammer down in the heavens, stay tuned, could be exciting…

Erin and Martha are on the road to first race of season near Deer Park, MI on the shores of Lake Superior. Erin’s phone isn’t taking a charge, so hopefully we aren’t dependent only on Martha’s flip phone for updates otherwise you might just get content from the handlers who stayed home.
