I just used LocalSend (github.com/localsend/lo...) to seamlessly send a file between a MacBook and a Windows laptop. It’s like a cross platform version of AirDrop. I love useful little utilities like this.

I'm in Wichita Falls, TX (the city I grew up in) visiting my parents. They've had a rough couple of years dealing with dementia, and I'm thankful for having three siblings to help manage their care. This is a stage of life that isn't talked about enough. It's rough.

Aneika and I had a great trip to Chicago last week! We took an architecture cruise, took in some plays, ate at amazing restaurants, and took in awesome views almost everywhere we looked. On top of that, the weather was extremely cooperative. We really enjoyed the Windy City!

This is the busiest summer travel season I’ve had in years. I was in Chicago last week, and I’m scheduled to go to Washington DC, New York City, Manchester (UK), Boston, and Copenhagen by the end of August.

I was frustrated because I couldn’t find some work gloves I’ve had for almost 30 years. I then noticed a pair of brand new gloves in the garage that were still in the packaging. I have to admit I’m quite smitten with them.

Wow, writing on the Onyx Boox Tab X is a *sumptuous* experience. It’s like writing with a really great pen on high grade paper. So good.

The company I work for has a Learning budget that allows buying devices in the eReader category. Several weeks ago, I put in an order for the Onyx Boox Tab X eInk tablet. It took a while since it was an international order, but it just arrived!

My area had grape sized hail about an hour ago. I ran out to try and cover my son’s car. Ouch.

I have trips to Chicago, Boston, Copenhagen, and Manchester (UK) on the books for this year. It’s a mix of personal and tech conference travel, and I think a few more will hit. I think this will be the first year that feels “normal” to me since 2019.

I’ve used my iPad Pro as a laptop replacement for years, and I always looked forward to tablets becoming more powerful for that use case. However, I’ve recently taken to the idea of tablets as specialized devices: reading, note taking, sketching, etc. Maybe One Tablet to Rule Them All ain’t it?

I have an OBSBOT Tiny webcam which is attached to a gimbal making it easy to tilt and pan. However, it's not easy to pack so I've started using Continuity Camera to use my iPhone as a webcam for my MacBook Pro when I travel. It. is. SO. GOOD. I'm thinking of buying an iPhone just to use as a webcam.

Fast forward to today, and I just freaked out a little when my phone couldn’t get signal when I tried to pull up Google Maps. It turns out the parking garage was basically a Faraday cage, and I just needed to get out on the road. I would be hard pressed to navigate Atlanta without GPS these days.

I spent most of 2005 staffed at a large telecom in Atlanta back when I was a technology consultant at Accenture. I travelled between Houston and Atlanta frequently and knew the city well. I could drive around Atlanta with one eye closed and two repetitive-strain injured hands.

I prefer airports where you can walk to the rental car center, but the ATL SkyTrain isn’t bad at all.

I’m finding that the 300 character limit feels about right. It encourages conciseness and clarity without feeling too restrictive. In my opinion, this keeps things conversational and provides a kind of even playing field. We all have the same box in which to post our thoughts. The UI is clean, too.
