Sometimes I think about how the original Star Wars film starting in the middle of a larger story was a cheeky in media res type framing device that riffed on matinee serials and then they made it literal and boring

My toxic trait is that I like to pretend that Star Wars 1977 and Empire are the only movies in the series when I watch them because all the other ones are fun but flawed at best and tell a radically reconcieved story from what seemed to be the original intention

Crazy how much of the original trilogy is completely broken by Lucas’s prequel retcon to set all major galactic events basically 20 years before the original film. Obi Wan and Anakin’s ages make no sense
