I think it depends a lot on how you approach things. @resonite.com has been profitable since launch. We kinda have to in order to survive. We're not as big, but I'd say that actually works against us, because less economies of scale - and we still make it.

*cries in Unity* I've forgotten how limited Unity's system is for this. With Resonite, you can just add whatever generic components - we even have custom type resolver too. It's super powerful and flexible! But it makes adapting this to Unity pain.
