VR on linux with full body tracking, face tracking, and not even using SteamVR! It took a bit but it just works! (Mostly)

Been daily driving linux for the past 4 days, it's been pretty interesting. I got VR set up with full body tracking, and face tracking using Envision and some other things. It was a lot easier than expected. It surprises me that VR even works on Linux at all to this extent.

I'm in the process of trying to get acclimated with Linux in a VM and I discovered KDE's wobbly windows. I learned rapidly that it was a mistake for me to discover wobbly windows. If you know, you know.

I honestly feel like I'm different than a lot of people in the social VR space, probably why resonite appeals so much to me, and why I'm not in VRC as much. It feels like VR has become my... canvas in a way. Originally it was "oh I want to be a balloon" but now it became more than that.

Had a friend who jokingly said something along the lines of "Hey what if you could make Marble Blast Ultra in Resonite." I don't think they expected me to take it as a fun challenge.

I was looking back through my VR videos that i've recorded, and this is one of the best VRchat clips I have lol.

So i'm thinking of releasing my balloonie novabeast modification soon, I fixed a bunch of things with it, but it's using an old version of the novabeast. I'm probably going to try to update it to the new version of the novabeast though, and add some more bones.

I've been testing this for the last 3 or 4 weeks and it really is a major improvement. It's an awesome performance update, It runs so much better than what it used to be. Way less freezes, lots more frames, able to have lots of people in a session, yeah this is what I was excited for.

So, I've realized, and I'm making it official. I'm non binary, feminine leaning, but non binary. I dont think this surprises anyone, lol. Pronouns don't matter to me all that much, but I feel so much better not being in the binary gender role. It feels more correct.

So, I made a little update to the public balloonie novabeast edit. Finally updated it with the FBT spine fix, hand gestures and an experimental leg fix! I may still tweak the leg fix though. I also added hue shifting to the android version and added a additive matcap. vrchat.com/home/avatar/...

at the inflatables meetup at furality, I accidentally started "ballooncon", in which half the instance gathered inside a giant balloon

So, this weekend at @furality.org has been really cool. This feels like their best work yet, absolutely beautiful theming, and the whole dream theme was amazing. Here's a few pictures!

The roadblocks are gone and Resonite's big performance update begins! I'm so excited for this.

I'll be honest, when I was first getting into this fandom, I wanted attention and cared about numbers. Nowadays though, I have come to realize that I don't need it. I only post art occasionally on here nowadays and it's so much healthier than how I used to be.

So really cool thing: I might be getting into game design at my university. I showed someone some of the stuff I've done in Resonite, and they were very impressed. I am really excited to see where this goes. I need to do one prerequisite class, but after that... Yeah, this is my goal now.

Ah darn, forgot mff is coming up! I'm glad I went there last year, but sadly I'm not going this year. It's super far for me.

So, I was really tired of an issue I was having with some of my avatars. The issue being the spine when rounded. The VRC IK is great if you're normally shaped, but if you're ballooned, this can cause problems. So I basically made my own jank spine solver using constraints.

I saw the news about you know what. This sucks. I'm canadian but I have a lot of friends in the US. I don't get it when people attack people for being different. It's your decision to be what you want to be and nothing should change that. I dont usually get political but I wanted to say this.
