Snowplants (Sarcodes sanguinea) are sneaky neat plants, they don't use chlorophyll to get energy, instead they steal sugar from a specific fungus (Basidiomycete Rhizopogon ellenae) which in turn has a symbiotic relationship with pines and firs. They live in the montane zones of western N. America.
