I love the history of bonfire night, the plot, the plotters, my favourite King (James I and VI) but not so much the anti-catholic sentiment behind burning an effigy of Guy Fawkes, who was a fascinating guy 😉 However you’re celebrating (or if not at all) have a safe night!

I’m in London today for TfL work and then #Uncanny Fright Night tonight at the Royal Albert Hall! So I thought I’d share some of the pictures I took in Pegnut Wood on Tuesday. Seeing the soft greens of the trees is a balm on the hustle and bustle of London.

Yesterday I visited London to see one of my heroes, poet laureat Simon Armitage read and talk about his latest collection of poems New Cemetry. His poetry has got me through some dark times over the last 35 years. It was brilliant to be in the same room as him. The sunset was spectacular as well.

Monday’s episode of Weird in the Wade is about “new town.” An area north of Biggleswade which was needed when the town population more than doubled after the great fire in 1785 and the arrival of the railway in 1850. But was something ancient on that land disturbed by the building works?
