i think the best case scenario for Texas studios is to have a robust remote work policy so that one doesn't necessarily have to be within the borders to work there. Arkane Austin had this, and it was a great policy that benefited everyone both inside and outside the state.

occasionally I'll see/hear folks saying that there just shouldn't be any game studios in Texas at all considering how hostile the state is to marginalized folks. and yeah, the hostility is awful! but there *are* marginalized game devs living in Texas on purpose, and uh I'd like for us to have jobs
