We built an incredible bloc that passed resolutions ranging from support for liberal Jewish institutions within Israel, to a state commission of inquiry into October 7th, to the blockage of illegal settlement activity in Gaza and the West Bank. This is where most Diaspora Jews *are.*

How dare you not hope. There’s going to be years more of hurdles, and the end goal is not only to get the hostages home. People were going practically door to door in northern Gaza to spread the news because there’s no internet/WiFi there. Several people died of starvation in Gaza yesterday. 1/x

I had just been reflecting with a colleague a few days ago about the shooting in Halle on Yom Kippur six years ago, and this morning arrived to lead services and heard the news of this terrible antisemitic attack in Manchester. This kind of zero-sum thinking makes for good clickbait 🙄 but this is a historic moment for Palestinians AND Israelis. This recognition means an international commitment to an end to Hamas in power in Gaza, self-determination for Israelis and Palestinians alike, and human rights for all.
