Another dumb project only a handful of people will be able to use, but whatever! Switchless selector for the Tim Worthington SMS FM mod. Solders to the cart slot, then needs 1 wire to the reset switch. Solder in the included 3 conductor cable that's provided with the FM kit.

I frequently have to change switch settings on my XT-IDE and 5150/5160(XT) motherboards, and I was sick of constantly having to go look up the tables to decode the switches. So here are a couple web-based tools to help out. github.com/misterblack1...

The battery leakage damage (which I cleaned up in the photos) is almost cool looking. Luckily it usually stays relegated to the battery section, leaving the RAM expansion portion working.

The amp isn't agile enough to do a snappy rising and falling edge at low volume so I'm playing with dual wound coils. I have a 100/600 turn setup at the moment and a switch at the side to choose but it's rubbish so I'll try two separates. 🙂

Oh yeah, about that pause detection. The full Arduino is overkill but the attiny doesn't have hardware serial which is needed for snappy pause response from the Bluetooth module. Luckily there's a gpio pin on the module that pauses if you short it to ground. I'll need a PCB for this. 🤔

Using tape heads for transmission is fraught with issues so I'm going to do some experiments with coils. I'll start by with a bt401 Bluetooth module on usb power, then tweak volumes and distances. If this works as well as I hope, I have some more complex builds in mind. Rabbit hole alert.. 🙂
