"The wave" in an audience is (AFAIK) an American invention. It was used at the LA Olympics in 1984. A lot of people call it the "Mexican wave" because the first time it was widely seen in soccer was Mexico 1986. Whatever happened to that audience wave? I've not seen it in years.
