Public Comment at Philadelphia City Council has long been problematic, but it has gotten out of hand. My rare hot take: it's time for Philadelphia City Council to revisit Aleksee vs. City Council Of Philadelphia (link below).

Anne Hidalgo's positive impact on Parisian public space has been huge. But the ultimate significance of her leadership on mobility justice is global: demonstrating what is possible really highlights the commitment of other mayors to convenience for car owners at the expense of everyone else.

Seems like it would be good if Shapiro and Hochul had a friendly race to build the next subway line.

🧵In my expert opinion as a researcher of vehicle ramming attacks, what has been publicly described in the video evidence does not support the claim that Renee Nicole Good was attempting a deliberate ramming attack when she was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. 1/7

Nowy Korczyn is where my family was from. Fortunately, they emigrated earlier, but they quite possibly knew this person as a child and/or his family.

Honored to receive the 5th Square Advocacy Urbanist Lifetime Achievement Award! Calling it a “lifetime” award in my 40s feels ambitious, but I’ll happily take it as motivation to keep pushing for better cities, better policy, and better outcomes.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard. We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions. We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

I am so impressed with the changes going on in Ann Arbor. Here's a mini-thread, staring with completed and under construction curbless environments on State St.

- “Why can’t us?” Ljubljana, Slovenia is a pedestrian paradise. It limits car traffic through its city center for most hours of the day. They instead have different evs that roam around offering free rides to those who need a lift.

Such a shame that the recent sanitation strike led to zero reconsideration of this policy, or the practice of doing door-to-door pickups in such a dense city. There is a cleaner, safer, cheaper, more environmentally friendly method waiting for you on your next Mediterranean vacation…

Are we aware of the progress happening on the pedestrian/bike improvements on Market Street in Old City? Lots of construction now but it shall be awesome having traffic calming and more space for folks on foot. This is looking toward 2nd & Market 🚲🚶🚶♀️🚶♂️🚲

It's Sunday night. 10pm. This two-person sanitation team is out collecting items that didn't fit into the city's container systems. This is how you keep a city clean.

It’s REALLY important that
#Vancouver’s
Downtown Business Association, who were originally against downtown bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of the evidence that they are better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced. Bike-lanes mean business.

Why can't us? Credit where due: Philadelphia took a good first step this year by eliminating mandates in our biggest commercial/mixed-use categories. But let's just ditch it citywide like everyone else is doing!

Helsinki had no traffic deaths from July '24 thru June '25. Philadelphia had 84 traffic deaths during calendar year '24. Why can't us? A few reasons: -litigation opposing improvements -requirement for street design to be legislated -deference to community groups on safety What else am I missing?

Helsinki goes a full year without a traffic death
A city traffic engineer credits the success to lower speed limits and smarter design.

SBB is the best in the business. They have a feature on the app that allows you to toggle on when you start riding and off when you finish. It then charges you based on your trip.

Still think e-cargo bikes can’t replace cars for daily life? Stories like this keep proving otherwise. Thousands of miles, fewer car trips, and a better way to live locally. 1/2
