Right wing media has had it in for Angela Rayner from the start - they couldn’t bear a working class woman being so powerful & dynamic. She made a mistake and has paid heavily for it. Very much hope she’ll return at some point in the future - our politics desperately needs more voices like hers

I think her going is the right thing. It’s an absolutely shit thing, but going now means she’ll be back (imo) and still the nailed-on successor. I’m bloody furious that those mediocre posh boys who - whether they admit it or not - simply cannot stand a clever, working-class woman are happy.

I really feel for Rayner. The hypocrisy, misogyny & classism in response to her error - not that I’m condoning the error - compared to the ways in which the posh & wealthy are treated when they do it on purpose, has been stark & depressing. That AI featured on Sun front page especially disturbing.
