If a journalist or tv producer contacts you because they want to portray (insert niche subculture/identity/sexuality here), think before accepting. At minimum: Look at earlier works from that same journalist/paper/production company.

So many times, non-therians assume I'm a fox or cat if I'm dressed as a wolf. Even if I have a mask, or a collar that literally says "wolf". I'm a small woman. People associate wolves with masculinity, while cats and foxes are "cute and feminine". It's so weird of humans to *gender* other species.

I wish there was like a ... therian+furry+puppyplay night club. The usual stuff: drinks, dance floor, socializing. But we could all wear tails or collars or ears or whatever. If you want to howl/chirp/roar along to the music, you can. Like an animal-person equivalent to Syntax Error Stockholm.

That knowledge is important and everyone should LEARN stuff is like one of my most basic values. Doesn't even have to lead to anything "useful".

This is a reminder for therians/otherkin that reading about psychology, spirituality/mythology and biology from sources outside of the otherkin community can be really helpful. Don't reinvent the wheel. Borrow books from the library, watch a documentary, scroll wikipedia, whatever.

In my mind, "otherpaw" is a great word. But it isn't anywhere close to being therian/otherkin! But as it's impossible to get those quadrobics kids to call themselves furries, it's good to have another "cool label" to direct them to, when they realise they aren't therians. They just want to belong.

RE: this whole thread, I struggle with the same things. Cringe, envy, wanting to connect (but afraid of coming across as creepy) - all of it. I've printed some theta-delta stickers that I sometimes give to kids who seem like they'd appreciate them. And business cards with link to my blog for adults.

There was a question on r/Sweden: "Do you live the type of life you want to?" Yes, pretty much. Happily married, job I'm content with, I have friends and hobbies and live in the city I love. My problems are more existential, I guess. Mourning loss of biodiversity, fearing the growing fascism etc.

What subcultures/etc do you feel like are *close* to - but do not consider yourself part of? For instance, I'm a therian. And used to be a huge fan of Cats (the musical), and like many in my age loved The Lion King as a kid... but I don't consider myself a furry. Not really part of that community.

Today has been a good day, actually. Been taking it quite easy this weekend. But still I've prepared some ttRPG stuff (Eon 5, baby!) and a friend came by and helped me with the cosplay project. Took my measurements and gave me a lot of really good advice. I feel optimistic now.

I have recurring stressful dreams, almost nightmares, about going back to teaching. In many ways, it was fun to teach. Knowledge is power, and all that! But it was sooo stressful and socially demanding. I'm much happier doing laboratory work. Better work-life balance.
