The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.

It is fucking insane that we had a decade of people complaining about the dangers of cancel culture, and now literally hundreds of thousands of people are being purged from government jobs for ideological reasons, but that is not cancel culture.

You know that scene in an action movie when the bad guy runs through the kitchen of a restaurant and pulls down all the pots and pans behind him to slow down his pursuers? We're in that part of the Trump presidency.

I once told my daughter how we had to tune in at a specific time on a specific day each week to see a new episode of our favorite show and if we missed it, we might never have another chance. She told me that was completely stupid.

Google's AI previews have destroyed traffic, so in their benevolence they have offered "microtransactions," "surveys" "pop-up ads" to the companies they bled dry. A better Internet was stolen from us, and I won't be shamed into calling that nostalgia.

Starting to wonder if we took one for global civic democracy. Electing Trump basically seems to have knee-capped every revanchist far-right candidate in the world. You're welcome, world.
