Just so you know, I think this is one of those things where we think we have control (if I only make it the right length/format/narrative) but in fact it's mostly noise/luck. So don't be hard on yourself.

Perhaps an annoying question, but tis the season: do any law profs have thoughts about the best approaches for formatting article manuscripts? I usually double-space the body and single space the footnotes, but from what I can tell something like the reverse is becoming popular. Or: does it matter?

I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy. She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

People in positions of power that exceeds posting or calling or e-mailing or even protesting must do something about this. Based on my current emotional state, saying anything beyond that would be imprudent.

A number of legal scholars have persuasively argued that we're currently experiencing a "crisis" of free speech. Really, though, what we're experiencing is better understood as a crisis of liberal democracy.

It goes without saying but no, the President does not have “inherent authority under Article II” to unilaterally enter the territory of a foreign sovereign, blow things up, and kidnap its leader.

This feels like a culmination of several deep pathologies: congressional passivity, executive aggrandizement, national security exceptionalism, politics as theater, war as theater.
