CBO published the estimated interest costs of the House-passed OBBBA. The estimate is $551 billion. Brings the deficit impact to $3 trillion. There are 16 provisions that could be extended before they expire. If all are extended, the deficit impact would be around $4.3 trillion.

I’m not a fan of Elon Musk, but spinning his comments about entitlements to say that cuts are coming is misleading. The context there is “fraud.” Granted, there’s no where near the amount of improper payments—not all of which is fraud—in entitlements that Musk claimed.

FWIW, the CR spends about $2 billion less than CBO's projections for discretionary outlays in FY 2025 and $52.7 billion more than FY 2024. There isn't a spending cut here.
