I think this is a faultline that runs throughout the administration: They have no theory of mind, and are completely baffled by any motivation more complicated than immediate material gain.

There’s something especially corrosive about the disposition of these appeals, where a prisoner is condemned to a life behind bars with a single, unreasoned, unaccountable sentence from the court. And a lengthy, well-reasoned dissent goes unanswered by the Justices who wield this power.
