Once I’m done with this jam I think I might design an aphidsona to go with my wasp one. as a little treat.

With CGs done, that just leaves expressions. I’m gonna try and limit myself to 4 per character. Once that’s done I’ll see how much time and energy I have left for the remaining sprites… it’s just 2 tilesets (and the water sprites) but I feel like they’re more acceptable to leave as is and fix later.

We're so back gamers... everything has been recreated. Now I can actually start working on the CGs lol. The first build is likely going to use some default/placeholder sprites for certain maps, but I think it will still be passable, and I can always go back and fix those later 🫡

Alright, started remaking the main map. At the very least, two of the maps I lost were pretty simple, it's mostly just the dialogue/text and the event programming that'll be tedious to reproduce. But I can do it >o</

6 days left of the jam… finished shark boy sprites, just gotta get them oriented properly in the game. I have a couple more tileset sprites to do, but I want to prioritize expressions and CGs first, because I can always use placeholder tiles and update them after the fact. I can do this…!

I wanna make more stories about aphids.... but I worry about retreading too much ground from Life Cycles 😔 I know there are ways to avoid that but it is always something I worry about,,,

Realizing I made some of my maps way too big... I was going for a 'spacious, yume nikki' vibe, but it's still just. Too much empty space without enough visual difference to make that space feel worthwhile. Which means I gotta go back in and redo some of the main maps ToT

Something I definitely want to improve on with my sprite art is color cohesion. I feel like I don't always take into consideration how the different tilesets will mesh together, and I want to get better at making full tilesets that look nice!
