To all who wrote their representative to ask them to vote no on HB 1375 THANK YOU!! The bill is not moving forward! Now on to the next call to action: SB 13 is a poorly written bill that can be weaponized to purge books in school libraries that censors deem "offensive" or without educational value.

If you need to visualize how the book restriction bill SB13 would damage Texas schools, hereās the just-released Free-Response Question 3 (Set 2) from this yearās AP Literature exam. And, next to it, hereās the same question with the books that would be banned from schools under the bill whited out.

The TX legislature is coming after books. HB 1375 lets anyone sue bookshops for damages if their minor accessed content they deemed āharmful.ā It's a bad bill & will have a chilling effect on your 1st Amendment rights. Tell your rep to vote NO on HB 1375. Find your rep:

Looks like we can finally agree after 3+ years of debate that removing books from school library shelves because of disagreement with the ideas & content they contain IS a book āban.ā Even if you can buy the book at Walmart. Or find a free copy in every hotel room in America.
