Ahh, Snake Eyes Shirafuji, we meet again. Will I finally best you after all these years? Feeling much more hopeful this will finally be my successful attempt. I even beat Lady Butterfly on my first try today, which took dozens on my first playthrough.

I, uh... I just now realized that I accidentally got vanilla Greek yogurt for this instead of standard/plain. No wonder it tasted weirdly sweet when that's not the sort of flavor I expected. All things considered it still worked out, but now I need a do-over with the correct yogurt.

IMO Periphery made one of the heaviest songs ever (Blood Eagle - appropriately named after a medieval execution technique) so it's weird to see them make such a relatively radio-friendly song. That said, the progression from about 2:40-3:40 is absolutely *disgusting* (highly complimentary).

I’m usually not much for live albums, but holy crap Andrew Wells (unsurprisingly) kills it. Getting him onboard was incredibly lucky for such an otherwise seemingly cursed band. I was a bit lukewarm on their latest album, but after this I’m wholly on board for the new DGD era.

Ross bringing the screams back was not on my bingo card but I’m here for it. Can’t believe it’s been about 3 years since their last album. I think I’m overdue to give ‘The Mountain’ another spin. Strong recommend for that album if this song is your jam.

Art makes you feel things. Positive and negative. My immediate, visceral dislike of the game is not intended to claim that my take is somehow "correct" or to invalidate anyone that enjoys it; I'm genuinely glad for everyone who enjoyed it. But game, movie, or otherwise; this is simply not for me.

Now that the final season is fully available I'm really curious to see how The Boys wraps up. Especially considering how it immediately diverged from the original comic series. Like, it's literally impossible for it to reach the same conclusion. Unlike Invincible I have no idea where it's going.

Watching it back I'm seeing all of the missed counter/parry opportunities but I'm finally finding my footing in a big way. This was after about a dozen attempts on this playthrough, never mind my previous two abandoned runs of the game. Also, no idea why the video Steam saved looks so washed out. 🤷‍♂️

My unfocused game hopping is back in full force. Sad to report I'm still bad at Sekiro. I'm determined to keep trying to get gud at it, but my now-third attempt is not going as smooth as one may hope. I don't *think* that there's lag with my controller, but I'm going to try wiring it just in case.

In Super Mario Galaxy, there is a flag atop a tower in Sea Slide Galaxy depicting a seagull in a unique style not shared by anything else in the game. This is actually a reference to the classic 1984 Hayao Miyazaki film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.

New Super Lucky’s Tale is actually pretty good. Nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary, just a solid 3D platformer. Maybe a bit on the easy/childish side, but it’s fun to play and that’s what matters. (I thought this was going to be a hot take until I checked out the Steam user reviews.)

I still can’t get this soundtrack out of my head. It’s so good. So chill.

Have we settled on a genre for the type of 2D game that Limbo kicked into mainstream? See also Inside and Planet of Lana. "Cinematic 2D Platformer" kind of fits, but is also clunky. Regardless, despite my expectations from the demo and the stiff combat/controls, Replaced is shaping up to be my #2.

Falcom's history is fascinating to me. One of the oldest game developers still around, predating the NES/Famicom, but still fairly small today. Just chugging along, staying in their lane, catering to their niche audience for 45 years, and yet that's exactly what allows them to be successful.

That 'Guess the Game' website I've shared some screenshots from now has a "poorly described" variant. [A space marine gets ghosted by his digital girlfriend, so he ditches work to find her while HR sends a new hire to drag him back.] And here I thought it was supposed to be poorly described. 😂

I never finished the original run of Daredevil on Netflix, but I decided to give Born Again a shot at the recommendation of my brother. Insane opening, and a really good mid-season episode (the bank heist), but with just a couple of episodes left I'm not quite sure how I feel on it overall.

Performance self-reviews are a cancer and I hate it every year when it rolls around. But I also have the option to ask for feedback from my peers and the people I work with apparently actually like me, so that’s genuinely gratifying even if I don’t want to believe it. 🥲

Getting ready for a mainline Star Wars rewatch, and not just because of May the 4th (be with you). The only strong opinions I still hold based on years-old initial watches are that 9 is a *bad* movie that was still entertaining, and 8 was a great movie that simply may not have fit into the series.

I'm a bit late on catching up on this, but it's already worth it after just a few trailers. Support independent coverage, and support indie games that may not be able to afford the big showcase events. Already can't wait for the next one.

After about 5 hours I’m still not quite sure how I feel. It ramps up in an easy to understand way. There’s a lot going on but it’s not indecipherable. But it somehow also feels shallow with how focused it is on playing cards in ascending order. I may just need to give up on deck builders…
