Check out our new study by @atabk.bsky.social! He tweaked a word list memory task to have hidden rules at encoding, which shifted and created “event boundaries.” People recalled pre-boundary words more, and post-boundary words less. Other fun bits in the paper include a reinforcement learning model!

On the faculty job market! My research aims to enhance cognitive control by studying: (1) What mechanisms underlie willingness to engage cognitive effort? (2) How is willingness to exert effort affected in psychiatric disability? (3) How can we increase willingness to engage effort? #PsychSciSky 🧠

Now that I'm here, I'd like to draw your attention to a new preprint by Davide Gheza (not yet here) and me. We ask how people deal with cognitive control demands in multidimensional environments, and find that people adapt to control demands in a highly dimension-specific fashion.

So it this where all the cool kids hang out now? I'm sick of Elon, but I'm also not sure whether this one is going to last.
