MONDAY MORNING Monday morning. One hour late. The pale, gouache sky sublimated her anger into brisk steps. One foot in front of the other carried her on, till mute screams turned to open laughter. The twists, and turns, of life.

Monday Morning. One hour late. From a punctual man, this raised a few eyebrows. Didn't call in sick. Didn't tell his bosses or his team. Curiosity turned to concern. His superiors called us. We sent nearby boys in blue to do a welfare check. He wasn't faring well. He wasn't faring at all.

He said the light shone through, it was faint at first, but slowly getting stronger. It was dark and red and seemed to breathe its hatred in and out. It spoke of inevitable doom and pain and righteous justice and punishment. We opted not to pursue this method of giving the blind their sight back.
