it's genuinely concerning how many of you refuse to allow grey areas to exist. a person is not wholly, ontologically evil because they have bad opinions, informed by their own experiences. a person is also not wholly good because they have opinions you regularly agree with. he's just some guy.

and i'll go a step further and say that bouie's employer doesn't say very much about who he is as a person. the same landscape that he is ill-equipped to comment on as a long-time staff writer, is the same one that makes it very difficult for career journalists to sustain employment.

he's not writing for babylon bee or the daily wire or the christian monitor. and he's not singlehandedly responsible for the editorial board's consistent commitment to being reprehensible. he is, despite chronically online opinion, also just another journalist trying not to get laid off.
