One thing I hate about working at an institution that schedules a full semester in the summer (May-August) is that students/TAs/most faculty/admin/support units often forget that we do that and then get surprised when summer vacations really inconvenience us.

Anyone has a suggestion of resources for online course designs that is modern, perhaps disruptive? I'm thinking of a model that's mostly asynchronous studying with checkpoints so students know whether they are on track for a proctored final that would count for 50%+ of the final grade.
