I worked in and around social care for over 30 years. There'd be no social care system without immigrants, it really is that simple. When Brexit forced all the European workers out they had to issue emergency visas to African workers to replace them. That taught the racists.

I'm old enough to have grown up with family who fought in WWII. They rarely talked about it and when they did it was to warn, not glorify. Remembrance Day was a time of quiet, sombre reflection. They would be horrified at the twisted celebration it has become.

Some very old and poignant graffiti seen today on a rusty bridge. One of the locals told me this bridge used to be the lorry route into the Orgreave coking plant and that the Battle of Orgreave was nearby in 1984. The most shameful event in the history of British policing, and that’s a high bar.

Correct. There is no example in history of a far-right party taking over that did not end in disaster for the people who voted for it. And, unfortunately, for everyone else.

Over 14 years, the Tories and their friends robbed us blind. And Labour continues to support the privatised world that also robs us blind The rich are getting richer and, through their media & politicians, are telling the poor to ignore who is really making their lives harder & blame brown people

My two cents: McGregor was facing complete and utter humiliation at the DCC tonight. Not only was he not going to get nominated, he was barely going to get a vote, meaning his whole "DIS IS WHAT DA PEEPLE WANT!!" schtick was about to crumble. So he did what he always does - he tapped.

10 million years ago, our lineage of apes got a tiny little evoutionary tweak, to one amino acid, that is the reason we can now drink alcohol. I trace the evolutionary origins of alcohol consumption to explore the rise of civilization and why our relationship with alcohol matters for our history:

Drunken Apes and the Rise of Civilization
New research reveals the primate origins of alcohol consumption—and how a single boozy mutation may have helped give rise to social complexity and large-scale civilizations.

If Jim Ratcliffe wore 10 real £40,000 Rolex's on each arm, and they all got stolen, and he went into London every single day. It would take him 5,000 days, 13.7 years, and 100,000 Rolex's to pay back the £4bn he has dodged in taxes.
