Again this is by far not the most pressing thing (I say while stuck in an airport) but can some fucking billionaire business guy talk to the research and marketing departments at their companies and learn how important access to census data is and tell the president?

Frankly women aren’t ruining enough things. Let’s ruin sports betting. Let’s ruin underwear companies that don’t account for people having butts. Let’s ruin trucks so big their fronts are taller than our heads. Let’s ruin the prison industrial complex. I believe in us!

Arguing with the comments section in the NYTimes because I think it’s wildly unreasonable to live in a neighborhood and expect complete tranquility, and I believe that kids deserve to be able to be loud outside in their yards/streets/driveways during the daytime.

NEWS — The Oregon Department of Human Services has issued 100% of November SNAP benefits, per an alert on their website. I've received reports that the funds have already hit recipients' EBT accounts.

It’s bait and I’m not going to click on it, but when someone is asking if women/“liberal feminism” ruined the workplace what they’re saying is they’re a sex pest. Because there is not anything in workplace culture today that could be called feminism other than not letting men be outright horrible.

I’m not going read or listen to this because I care about my time, but whenever I see takes like this I know it’s by some white man who has never bothered to do any self reflection. I know this because I’ve worked in male-dominated offices and HOOOOOBOY is it not the women ruining things.

Deaf people exist. Stop posting videos with no captions if you aren't going to tell us what they're saying. In fact, stop posting them for hearing people, too. I can read faster than I can watch a video, so just tell me and stop wasting my time.

People don’t want someone to tell them how bad their lives are and whose fault it is. They want someone to present an exciting vision of what could be and how to get there. They want someone who understands and loves what is great about their community.

My grandma has been in the hospital coughing up blood clots for 24 hours, the doctor has not even fucking showed, and the nurse told my mom to just look at the test results on mychart and put them into chat GPT and I’m about to hop on a plane to NJ to fire everyone in this hospital.

Wilson is in fact trying to “arrest our way out of homelessness.” His overnight shelters are not the housing our homeless neighbors want or need. They are just an excuse to conduct “sweeps” which make it harder for people to access housing bc their meds, IDs, and belongings get stolen and destroyed.

What gets left out in the discussion of e-bikes is how great they are for people like me who weren’t confident on a regular bike. My e-bike gives me so much freedom and it’s so much more fun and convenient than driving! I wish more people had access to safe bikeable infrastructure.

Your reminder that throughout history immoral, cruel, and ineffective policies have enjoyed broad popular support. Just because people like the idea of a thing does not make it good. When we see cruelty and injustice, we should fight it even if others celebrate it.

When I was a kid my mom used to offer to put my candy in a bowl for easier access, and then hide half of it for herself in a high up cabinet. If you do this to your kids, know you are condemning them to a life of not knowing what Tupperware is the right size for their leftovers.

This fucking sucks. Helmi is an expert in social housing. We have the opportunity to do something great by adopting a housing-first model that is proven to get and keep people housed. Instead the mayor is throwing a tantrum because he wants to criminalize homelessness instead.

Hey Portland, I just sent this to my councilors*. City Council has oversight authority they can wield if they want it. Let’s get some pressure pointed at EPG to get this started and let’s get some answers from the mayor. * minus Dan Ryan because he’s worthless

On top of the inhumanity of his policies, Wilson has not worked with service providers, courts, or legal experts with one day to go before the police start enforcing the camping ban. All he is doing is putting more roadblocks between homeless people and housing.

Last weekend I was biking and a group of teen girls screaming and laughing ran right into the street in front of my bike. I was able to stop because I was going 16 mph on a bike and wasn’t distracted. A lot of kids are going to be acting like those teens today - if you can, please avoid driving.

This fucker built absolutely inadequate shelter that only operates at night, doesn’t provide privacy, and doesn’t meet the needs of our homeless population explicitly so he could have an excuse to criminalize them, destroy their possessions, and make it harder for them to survive. It’s disgusting.
