Ninja Gaiden Ragebound is a beautiful game, any way you slice it... but its CRT filter is absolute ass.

I picked up Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. Despite working on the original PSP localization (and it was a fucking nightmare), I could never get into the game proper. Perhaps as an ARPG, it'll click more. I swear, game releases this year actively want to bankrupt me.

My overall impression of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound is less positive than I wish it were. I love the levels and the overall flow, and bosses are cool, but the fights lean too heavily on "random projectile spam" for their difficulty, which feels arbitrary and annoying, if not exactly unfair.

Seeing the Bill Watterson originals full of pencil lines of stuff that didn’t work, scuffs the eraser didn’t pick up, white out galore and more was something I needed to see to remind myself that nothing is perfect the first go and tweaks need to be made and you’re allowed to try again.

You know, the real Nazis were just as dumb and vile, but they at least understood presentation. They had a cartoonish flair and style. The modern Nazis just have red caps and gin blossoms. The reboot is always lamer than the original.

It's very simple. When it comes to proper names, your pronunciation biases are irrelevant, even if you are from a different nation/culture. The only correct way to say a proper name is the way the individual bearing that appellation would say it. "Elvira" should never be pronounced "El-vee-ra."

This is quite impressive. The mixing isn't 100%, but this does a shockingly good job of mimicking the sound of the PCE-CD renditions of Ys music.

My copies of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound arrive today. I'm actually slightly impressed with myself that I didn't cave and buy a digital copy in the meantime. I've only been waiting for a new 2D Ninja Gaiden since I was seventeen.
