2/ Every “gender-critical” bigot engages in targeted harassment against individuals, and every one of them would face consequences if the law were applied equally. However, there is not even formal equal protection under the law for the LGBT+ community in the UK.

I have never seen anyone ever explain how if, by supposition, the anti-trans ‘belief’ is protected, because of the legal protection of an individual instantiating a private doxastic state, socially and legally unacceptable concrete *actions* like harassment and verbal abuse are therefore protected

One tragic thing I once saw someone say in philosophy say was "I hate all this trans stuff, when people say that gender can be changed: it disturbs me because I *know* that my gender is a prison, that I'm doomed to be a man even though being such is utterly miserable and causes me nothing but pain".

Since at least the 1990s the norm has been trans men use men's toilets and trans women use women's toilets and this became a very strong norm in the 2010s at least and historically, trans men and women have used congruent toilets without incident (both by passing and by people not policing anything)
