I created this series of sculptures for my PhD, exploring similarities between the techniques of oral-formulaic poetics (as in Homeric poetry) and sculptural assemblage. At my graduate exhibition a whole curiosity of Classicists showed up but the art set stayed away. They have no interest in my work

Them: "Why are you wasting your time obsessing over ancient oral poetics? As an artist your work is supposed to reflect your time and place. This Homeric and Hesiodic stuff is not relevant." Me: "I don't know, it all just feels strangely prescient."
