Would love someone to ask the Minister who wants to introduce mass online surveillance to "protect children" to justify the government's continued use of X.

crazy how much of irish politics is a member of government shaking their head over an issue and going "its a real shame, isn't it" then shrugging their shoulders and walking away

When this photo emerged of the owner of what used to be Twitter, we knew what he stood for. The next day,
@jcfjustice.bsky.social
left that site. That was not a difficult decision. I do not understand how the Irish government needs ethical guidance on this:

Looking to 2026, our predictions for housing and prison policy are bleak (sorry!) with some signs of hope in environmental justice and theology. Ultimately, we resolve to not "embrace the politics of fear" and enter 2026 knowing "the world is enough for all our needs."

189 people died on Irish roads last year, the highest rate in over a decade, with a disproportionate number of vulnerable road users afflicted. First day of the new year? Government leaks it won't even try to deter red light running.

A guy driving that fast in a 50km/h zone clearly drives enough to know the chances of anyone even trying to detect him approach zero. His mistake was to forget there are designated days in the calendar when we collectively decide to pretend we actually believe that speeding is a real threat to life.
