In Swedish, a word for what you eat to bridge the gap between meals (or while waiting for the main course to cook) is stödmacka. It means "support sandwich." A similar word in Norwegian is ventepÞlse, or "waiting sausage."

The Irish Times criticised for âstoking hostility between road usersâ as people cycling killed in crashes reaches near-decade high
The Irish Times has been criticised for publishing a letter which jokingly refers to an anti-cycling trope just as three people cycling lost their lives on Irish roads in one week. One campaign group, which criticised the letter, said it amounted to "stoking hostility between road users", and another outlined how it downplays the regular red light running by motorists.

This is the new cycle-lane on East Wall Rd. It has been in this state since the first day it opened. Flooded everytime it rains and filled with garbage. And yes, it was dug up & filled in badly before it even opened. Day 1 it was like this.

My colleague, Sophie, gave the world a brief glimpse this morning of the research we've been developing this summer that conclusively proves faith-based communities serve as a first port of call for many migrants, before the city or the State. But Dublin City Council basically ignores them.
