Depressing to see that jump on "deportations," a sign that the more the Trump admin keeps immigration out of the news, the better for him. When it's highly visible, the American public hates it. When it's people being grabbed quietly without the spectacle, they forget about it and move on.

The scope of these terminations is unprecedented. At RFK Jr's HHS alone, 77 advisory boards were disbanded in 2025 — more than a quarter of all the panels. For context: in 2024, HHS terminated just two. Among the casualties: panels on organ transplantation, dietary guidelines, and long COVID.

A Nature analysis shows that the Trump administration has terminated more than 100 advisory committees to science agencies — and reduced the transparency and independence of those that remain.

I think we are beyond the we just need to vote on big and small elections. We need better, moral, engaged, normal people to run for office. In places like Chicago it always feels like we vote but there's no choice (both systematic reasons and lack of candidates).

This is the kind of betrayal a nation carries out when its leaders don't believe in the concept of allies and that views promises as something for suckers. It also makes our armed forces less safe. No nation will ever trust us again. Why should they? We stab our friends in the back.

People on X making really apparent why Anthropic is so strict about blocking science related content in its latest models. (e.g. "Claude helped me set up a lab in my basement") Which sucks for scientists with access to proper facilities who would benefit greatly from using these models.
