Ganzflicker gets a lot of hate, but look- I know it's cheesy. But the name is probably why it's so popular, and got me my job. People will always make fun of things that are different... but if you just go by what everyone else thinks, you'll never stand out 🙃

If you can see the balance of how much an author collaborates vs. had the primary/senior position, it can actually highlight those collabs, or reveal a potentially problematic imbalance. I'm happy to hijack the metric to get insights I think are important. We don't have to use it as Google intended.

Why why why, fucking why- Is an article from 1973 still paywalled?

The more I think about it, the more I realize we would not even have this problem if we didn't depend on for-profit publishers. Science is a business for them. This is just a consequence of that! How do we fix it? Mass boycott.

Tldr: bad practices usually found in S/E Asia & Middle East are now filtering into Western science, so it's time to pay attention now 🤔 For-profit publishers don't care if science is well or poorly done. It is our responsibility as scientists worldwide to do our own checks and balances.

I haven't read this book yet, but the authors (Grant & Di Tanna) know their stuff, and they provide code for every script/engine. Meta- and mega-analysis one of those places where Bayes is natural and often easier than non-Bayes. bayesian-ma.net
