Yeah, I have been lowkey kind of fascinated by this genre of post, which really does seem to vindicate the "everything is just perception via social media" theory of politics.

1922 is the centenary of Brazilian independence. This is a goodbye kiss. But also represents friendship between republics. This Portuguese flag itself was only 12 years old. This is very forwards-looking.

The UK version of “Project 2025” by the Reform party includes a British ICE, a concentration camp for 24,000 people, mass surveillance and withdrawing from refugee, anti-torture and anti-trafficking conventions. It’s on their website. That’s how comfortable fascists are in the UK today.

I am not sure I would call it "revealed preference" per se as much as "slippery preference." Most people go through life with weak, contradictory opinions they never bother to interrogate too thoroughly. This is especially true given that they are aware of far more things to have opinions about

Not a statesman. Not strong. Not patriotic. Not principled. Farage is a traitorous little shit who is too compromised and too desperate to please Trump, to serve the best interests of our country. He will only ever betray us because he has to see Brexit through to the bitter, broken end. (iPaper)

Here’s the really bad part: over time, this dynamic breeds bigger and bigger crises. Markets keep updating their beliefs about TACO, so it takes ever more extreme actions to convince them he might not TACO. Buckle up.

The TACO cycle: Markets want to price in TACO. But TACO only works if Trump sees stocks tank. So we get a loop: Trump does things → nothing happens (markets already priced in TACO) → that emboldens him to do more → until markets start to think he might not TACO → stocks fall → TACO is restored.

every time I read this, I get apocalyptically apoplectic about how clear it is. it is instant. it does not require explicit congressional action to invoke, it instead only requires that to remove. donald trump is not the current president right now, according to the constitution.
