Ready to get up and dance? LDA & AKA 7EVEN have brought “Poesie clandestine” (Clandestine poems) which I think will be a huge hit in all the beach clubs this summer. LDA and AKA7EVEN have competed in #Sanremo separately, but are making their debut as a duo.

#Sanremo veteran Francesco Renga is now joining us with "Il Meglio Di Me" (The Best of Me). Renga's song Angelo is an Italian pop classic, and Il Meglio Di Me shows that Renga still knows his way around a hook.

Balladeer Leo Gassman switches between two modes in his song “Naturale” - an intense whisper, and an intense yelling. But it’s fitting for the emotion of this song, which is regretting the loss of a five-year love affair, with all the small details of the performance.

Real life couple Maria Antoinietta and Colombre are making their #Sanremo debut together with the song “La felicita e basta” (Happiness is enough). Their joy is infectious and this song is as light and sweet as bubblegum.

We are about to see another debutant act that are veterans in the Italian music scene - the riot grrl band Bambole di Pezza with the song “Resta con me” (Stay with me) Somehow, they manage to combine a phenomenal vocal with killer guitars.

Rapper Chiello is bringing “Ti penso sempre” (I always think of you). It’s a vibey soundcloud shoegaze rap track that sounds like he recorded it in his bedroom on a rainy day. I very much dig it. #Sanremo

There were technical issues with Tredici Pietro's performance yesterday during the press rehearsal but glad to see it hasn't slowed things down. #sanremo

Gianni Morandi’s baby boy Tredici Pietro is making his #Sanremo performance debut with the song “Uomo che cade” (Falling Man). There is an interesting 70s feel on his backing track, and Tredici Pietro certainly leaves it all out on stage with his performance.

Okay, time to come down now with Enrico Nigiotti’s “Ogni volta che no so volare” (Every time I don’t know how to fly) Spoiler alert: He remembers how to fly by the end of the song.

Song #22 is Sal DaVinci’s “Per sempre si” (Forever yes). I will be saying nothing else here because I am going to be standing up and yelling “IO E TE PER QUI SARA PER SEMPRE SI” at the television while sobbing.

#Sanremo debutant Eddie Brock is bringing “Avvoltoi” (Vultures). Yes, Eddie Brock took his name from Marvel’s Venom comics. His Spotify biography is “smuggler of emotions”

Malika Ayane, former winner of the Mia Martini Critics Award, has brought back another contender with the song “Animali Notturni” (Nocturnal Animals). It makes us feel like we’re in a 70’s Milanese disco, with funk bass tracks and wonderful percussion. #Sanremo

Nayt has brought “Prima che” (Before), a rap about the time before a time when things went wrong. I love it because of the anvil percussion sounds and the unexpected cello.

NEWS TIME! What’s been happening since we started #Sanremo? Only THIRTEEN more acts to go! (Including THIRTEEN PETER, or TREDICI PIETRO)

Apparently I did NOT misread the schedule but WOW was that some grisly tiger footage. Please if you were away from the TV just watch this GIF instead. (#Sanremo! You get everything! Including Carlo Conti as the pirate Carlocan!)

SANDOKAN meet SANDOKAN! Can Yaman, who played Sandokan in last year’s RAI adaptation, and legendary Indian actor Kabir Bedi, who played Sandokan in the 1976 television adaptation in Italy, will be hanging out with a TIGER on stage. It’s #SANREMO!

Song 18 is Serena Brancale’s “Qui con me” (Here with me). It’s a song about her mother, and it’s got moments for fantastic vocals, and it’s tipped as a winner. Let us know what YOU think!

I have been waiting for this all night it’s BOAT TIME! Max Pezzali is beginning his five night residency on the Costa Crociere Party Boat. He’s starting with a medley of three hits: “Sei un mito” “Nella notte” and “La regina dela Celebrita” #Sanremo

Look at the collar of Ermal's outfit - it has the word "Amal" embroidered on it, which could be the name of the little girl he wrote the song about, or a reference to a name meaning "hope". Interested to see his explanation tomorrow #Sanremo

Don’t be fooled by the upbeat sounds of Ermal Meta’s song “Stella Stellina” (Little Star). It’s actually a moving and pointed song written to mourn the death of a little girl in Gaza. Look for the way the staging changes about 2/3s of the way through, as if Meta is making a phone video. #Sanremo

Fedez and Marco Masini are up at song 16 with “Male Necessario” (Necessary Evil). The two bad boys of #Sanremo first teamed up for Duets night last year and have now brought this song which … is milder than I expected? Still, it’s a favourite just because of who is performing it.

Levante returns to #Sanremo with “Sei Tu” (It’s You) which is a beautifully performed ballad that should really connect with viewers at home. Listen to the way it builds and drops throughout the song.

Next up: Indie rock cutie Fulminacci is bringing “Stupida fortuna” (Bad luck”) to the stage. It’s a fun little song, and he’s advertising it with posters of him and a black cat all over #Sanremo.

We are taking a break and cutting away to GAIA at the Suzuki stage, which is right around the corner from the Ariston! She will be singing “Chiamo io chiami tu” which you may remember from last year’s #Sanremo.

Andrea Bonomo, who co-wrote Italia Starter Pack, also co-wrote Gabry Ponte's Tutta L'Italia. At the start of the week, we thought the songs would be very similar, but BOY were we wrong. #Sanremo

Song 13 is rapper J-Ax is with “Italia Starter Pack.” It sounds nothing like Italy, but is so deeply, deeply #Sanremo. This performance absolutely delights me, and I just wish the whole thing was a wide shot to see the madness unfolding bit by bit.

BACK TO THE COMPETITION! Eurovision and #Sanremo veteran Raf has returned with the song “Ora e per sempre” (Now and Forever.) It’s a song that was co-written with Raf’s son, and the staging makes him look like he’s playing a stadium show.

The entire press room is singing along with Tiziano Ferro.

It is our first guest performance of the night! It’s crooner Tiziano Ferro doing a medley of his hits - ending with Perdono, the song that launched his career TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO. (Tiziano, drop your skin care regimen!) #Sanremo

Another #Sanremo debut here from Samurai Jay with Ossessione, a Latin-influenced dance track. Samurai Jay released a 12-minute Samurai Jam a few weeks ago where he does acoustic Latin music around a table with friends, and it’s absolutely charming.

A moment of well-deserved recognition for the orchestra! #Sanremo

Song 10 is the diva Patty Pravo, who is making her 11th appearance at #Sanremo. Opera may not be the greatest song, but Pravo is a spellbinding singer. (Also, thank you RAI Health and Safety committee for not making her walk down that staircase!)
