Listening to county cricket. Commentator makes a point of mentioning the independent school a young player has recently scored runs for. Again, this never seems to happen for players from a state school background.

You see a title like 'Timmy Mallett explains APARTHEID' and you'd probably go 'Oh, good grief'. Instead, you get a dialled down Mallett in South Africa, and he absolutely smashes explaining a difficult, complex subject to children right out the park with pitch perfect balance. Genuinely brilliant.

My uni mate turns 60 today. For his 23rd birthday, we went to Leicester v Chelsea. A win would see Chelsea promoted. There were more people in the away end than the rest of the ground. At 3, there was a big surge as Chelsea fans were shoved in to avoid trouble outside

The deputy leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice, owns a property company - Quidnet REIT. From 2020 to 2022 it paid Tice and his trust £600k in dividends. Quidnet should have paid £120k of tax on those dividends. It didn't. A 🧵 with evidence from the company's own filings:

It is the anniversary of the My Lai massacre today. I'd say that even more than most years, it's important to remember what happened. And the role Hugh Thompson, an active serviceman, played in both stopping and publicising it. Despite enormous military, political and public pressure to stay quiet.

I'm up to the episode about the back-pass law. We had a one-legged keeper, and our manager's 1st pre-match team talk went: "You're champions. Go out and play like champions. If you have to pass back to Simon, put it on his right leg as his left may come off"
