My heart is absolutely broken about the school shooting in Tumbler Ridge. I never thought such a thing could happen in Canada. As a parent who raised their child in the US, that was always my fear. My love, and support goes out to all the family, friends, and everyone impacted by this.

Yesterday afternoon, an active shooter opened fire at Tumbler Ridge Secondary school. The incident left nine dead, including students as young as 12. As details emerge, there's still a lot we don't know. But one thing is certain: we must not allow hate to grow from the roots of tragedy:

Police in the Algonquin community of Kitigan Zibi in Quebec received a call early this morning where they found three members of a family dead at the scene. Considered a major incident, no further information has yet to be released.
