People really don't imagine how many of their favorite games are commercial failures. Making a good game may help with sales, but it's not the main factor. And both players and devs need to realize that.

It can't be overstated how much scalping has hurt pokemon tcg experience, even for those just trying to play. I'm currently trying to put together a Milotic deck because Feebas is my boi, but even though I'm just trying to get the low rarity stuff nobody has it.

I dunno why I've been seeing so much more of it lately, but It actually kinda baffles me how much hate Hobo Johnson gets and the way people seam to... not "get" it? I get not liking it, it's not really for everyone but man, the degree to which people hate him is wild to me.

One issue I have with the way online discourse talks about playerbases for modern games is that it really feels like "gamers" at large have forgotten the concept of a "niche game". If a game isn't able to maintain thousands of players online at all times, it's a failure and therefore bad.
