According to "Rover" in The Football Gazette and Telegraph for 24 February 1912, the "MAN OF THE MOMENT" is Orient's Fred Bevan. "The Clapton Orient club has had a great struggle", he writes. "Many difficulties have had to be overcome, and they are often referred to even now..." #lofc #lofcpress

The London Daily Chronicle for 23 February 1907 has thoughts to share on the Orient's run of form: "These Orient men turn their noses at mediocre opponents. “Give me a valiant opponent”, said a fictional swordsman, “and I will show my mettle.” That ought to be the Orient’s motto." #lofc #lofcpress

The image itself, allowing a view into the working flows of a hand-press era print shop, features a lot of hidden steps of the becoming of a printed artifact: from typsetting to proof reading to working the press, etc. Every early modern book was a team effort.
