This used to be a two way street for motor vehicles. Now a small scheme is being built to make it a two-way quiet route for people cycling and one way for cars (Clapham, London)

Before and after: This used to just be a bit of nondescript street. Now it’s a micro space for people. As I walked past, this kid walked up and immediately started playing. Amazing what happens when you design city spaces for people. Not just for cars.

My first ride along one of the new sections of North Tyneside’s “seafront sustainable route” - decent width and separation here and good to see side road priority. Nice to have lots of extra zebras too. Enough people on foot, even on a grey day, to be grateful to no longer have share the path.

Pre work wander around Bristol this morning. Very noticeable how bus stops in the centre almost all have raised platforms to enable easier boarding

This previously ugly, dangerous dual carriageway in Stretford was transformed with wide cycle tracks, wider footways, and public realm galore. It even has sun loungers - not as useful today as they will be in summer :)

Off to Manchester next week. Thinking of going for a swim at the aquatics centre after work in the evening. It's a 15-20 minute walk. The routes google maps is giving me look, erm, inviting.......
