The government has no popular mandate for its cruel new measures against asylum seekers. They will seemingly do almost anything to appease the far right, and to avoid fairly taxing the super-rich to fund the improved public services people are crying out for.

The Greens don’t believe providing safe refuge for endangered asylum seekers is an “out-of-control” policy. Nor do we believe making life more difficult for those in need is the way to unify British society. Refugees are welcome.
