It's important not to internalize hate. If you are ashamed or wish you weren't transgender, ask yourself If you would feel the same way in a world where we are valued. You didn't choose to be this way, and it's okay to wish things were different. But if you are trans, don't be ashamed of it.

If you're trying your absolute best to put into the world what you'd like to see more of and feeling completely overwhelmed, please read this: You are NOT wrong. It is NOT pointless. Fascism works exactly how it's making you feel: Depleted. Run-down. Recharge when you must. Then keep being you.

Folks, you can't report the United States to its manager. There's no superhero coming to save us. We don't need one giant act of heroism. We need millions of small acts of solidarity. Help one person in your community for nothing in return. Then, do it again. And again. That's the revolution.

Let yourself rest. Let yourself smile. Let yourself find happiness. You’ve made it through this week. You deserve that.

I just had my first therapy session in over 3 months and, damn, it felt good to let that all out.

Every trans person who comes out reminds us that even in hostile times, truth still finds its way into the light.

Especially now, let joy be stubborn. Let yourself be stubborn too. Refuse to give it up. That persistence can be a lifeline for you and for others.

Don’t let the internet fool you. I was at a protest for trans kids yesterday an HOUR south of Seattle, and it was HUGE. And there was a cacophony of drivers beeping in support. I could not believe it. Because I spend too much online and figured it’s a lost cause.

It was meeting an out trans person that helped me realize I myself was trans. It was other out trans people that helped me navigate transitioning. And it was even more out trans people who inspired me to keep going when times were tough. Now I am an out trans person, and I hope to inspire others.

Trans people who have already come out are the reason the rest of us can even imagine doing the same. Their courage is the foundation under our feet.

And that, my Sister, is why I'll be posting my customary Transgender JOY video this afternoon on YouTube and TikTok. There is joy out there, even if some want us to be despondent and easily controlled. 💜🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️💜

Especially now, it’s not trivial to post about trans joy. It’s necessary. Every trans person who shares their joy sends a message of hope to others who may be struggling. And everyone who uplifts those posts helps spread that light, hope and visibility even further.

Remember: Your mental health comes first. Block or mute, if you need. Protect your peace.

Every trans person who transitions later in life is a gift to the community. Your example tells those still waiting: it’s not too late and you are not alone.

Kindness won’t change the entire world, but it might change someone’s world. And sometimes, that’s enough.

Every trans person who comes out in this hostile climate is living proof that truth beats fear.

Trans people are exhausted from fighting every battle alone. If you are safe enough to speak, safe enough to protest, safe enough to challenge lawmakers, then you have a responsibility to do it. Use your safety to make us safer.

There will be days where kindness feels like a losing game. People won’t change, situations won’t improve and you’ll wonder why you bothered. But the truth is, choosing kindness keeps you from becoming what you hate. That’s reason enough.

Simply put: Trans people have always been here, part of every aspect of living, shaping the world alongside everyone else. Always have. Always will.

I'm going for my first-ever pedicure this afternoon! I'm absurdly excited about this.

Every morning I wake up, I remind myself: being trans isn’t the problem. Hatred is. We fight, not just to survive, but to thrive. We keep moving forward.

I do wish people would treat transphobia as the serious red flag it is, because if someone is repeating bullshit pseudoscience talking points from right wing cranks, that's just as bad as conceding to anti-vax nonsense and undermining trust in science and medicine, alarm bells should be sounding!

Especially now, if you need a reminder, here it is: You are important. You belong. You make a difference in everyone’s lives you touch. And no one EVER has the right to tell you any different!

Cruelty thrives because most people look away. Don’t. Do what you can, when you can, wherever you are, even if it’s just small acts.

Life’s already hard. Be the reason someone feels safer today, not the reason they break.

I love going into downtown Toronto since I get to come across so many trans people in the wild.

If you’re still not out, but you’ve come out to yourself, sometimes that can be the biggest step. Recognizing your truth, sitting with it, making peace with it even when the rest of the world hasn’t caught up. Give yourself credit for that.
